American Side
The photos below were sent along to us by Tom Rosenblad from Tonsberg, Norway. The Rosenblads were typical of young families living at Gander Airport in renovated military buildings. Tom was more than happy to find out that "once a Ganderite - always a Ganderite"!
The Rosenblads lived in the
remodelled US Post Office building
on the corner of Chestnut Road at Roosevelt Street from 1946-1950.
Tom's mom, Berit, was a full time
wife and mother. She also enjoyed
day trips by train to near by towns
with her friend Susan.
European motorcycles such as this BSA , were popular at the airport, although the travel was limited.
